Hello World. As you can see it has taken me a while to get back to you. The 14 day purge turned into a mini hibernation and it’s not all my fault. Okay- so maybe it is. Well how was I supposed to know the reality of the purge assignment would take longer. While the house is not showroom ready (partially because I have no idea what to do with the kitchen items) it looks totally different now. It feels much lighter.  Light flows freely and our dog Sophie has more room to run around in which she appreciates.
As I ease back into blogging because I wanted to give you all a few suggestions if you find yourself on a purge journey.

1. Develop a realistic plan of attack.

So no one told me that giving myself 14 days to purge and clean up was realistic. If I had to do it all over again I would have spent time focusing on the task of purging instead of purging and cleaning. It was too much trying to focus on purging when I wanted to try to figure out where to re-position furniture or if we should plaster another picture of us somewhere in the house.

2. Focus on the task at hand.

If you’re like me you will find your mind wondering throughout the purge process. I mean really since when was cleaning the most exciting thing to do when everything else is going on. When purging your home focus on your plan of attach for each day. If for some reason it doesn’t work make sure that’s the first thing you do before starting a new toast.

3.  Practice Makes Perfect

By the time you get to this step you realize that your perfect plan didn’t work. Whether it was because your kids got sick and you were required to be a teddy bear or your boss asked you to stay later you must realize that nothing in life will ever be perfect. Not even your perfect plan. Unfortunately if you are like me when plans don’t work out you find yourself disappointed and unmotivated. Usually when this occurs nothing happens and the purge pile continues to grow. Just remember  when these moments occur exhale and realize practice makes perfect and keep it moving on to the next task.
My findings is the 14 day purge just doesn’t work because life happens. When life happens remember your goal, an organized house with everything in its’ place.
