The Verdict Is In..I Lost!!

Last week I hopped on the scale and stared at the numbers 314.4 lbs as I stepped down I was determined to love myself to healthy. So as you can see in the first week was a success and I currently weight 308.8 lbs!!!!! I am down 5.6 lbs.

So at this point I am sure you are wondering if I might have starved myself just a tad bit . The answer is no. As many of you may know I am a proud Weight Watcher member (it works when I work it ). This past week I was able to get through one eating out meal and two cook- outs with a breeze. I ate fried green tomatoes, a salad with tons of ranch, peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream, hot dogs, pork ribs, potato salad, baked beans, and pasta salad. This was over the course of a 24-hour period. Yup that’s right I did not have to drink lemon water with cayenne pepper and sit in a sauna for hours. Weight Watcher’s really does work.

So how does Weight Watcher’s Work?

When you first sign up you are asked a few questions. Two of those questions include your height and your weight. Based on these pieces of information and your desire (whether to gain or lose weight) Weight Watcher’s calculate your daily point goal for you. This number signifies the amount of points you can have each day. Each food has a point value based on its serving size. You would then use the Weight Watcher’s app to find out the point and that number is then subtracted from your daily point, sort of like a checkbook. This means there you do not have to buy special food and you can eat anything but you must practice discipline. The reason why I love Weight Watcher’s is because you can actually earn points by busting a sweat.

Last week I determined I will lose 50 lbs by the end of the year. I think this is a decent goal being that we have 26 weeks left in the year. This means my ultimate goal is to lose 2 lbs a week. This even factors in a 2 lb cushion for the slip up weeks.

To help with this commitment to myself I broke down the 50 lbs goal into smaller mini goals that are rewarded with some pretty cool (but cost efficient items) check them out below. The ultimate goal is a new FitBit. To pay for this ultimate goal I realize that I must earn it therefore I am going to be paying myself $4 for every pound lost.

Challenge: Grab your journal, take a moment, clear your mind, and breathe.

Set your timer to 15 minutes.

If you are on this journey with me to becoming healthier think about where you would like to be by the end of the year. What is your health goal? What is your weight loss goal? Divide that number by 25 (number of weeks left in the year). This represents the amount of weight you have to lose each week to meet this goal. If you want to take it a step further you might want to reward yourself after you lose a certain amount. Have fun with this. Do you need a new pair of shoes? Work for it! You will appreciate it that much more.
